'It's not a position we can leave vacant and they'd need to be hitting the ground running'

It's a very important role

Councillors have raised concerns over the Tenant Liaison Officer vacancy at Carlow County Council and have told the local authority that the role needs to be filled as soon as possible.

Cllr Fintan Phelan raised the issue at this month's full meeting of the Council on Monday after the position was vacated by Josephine Delaney - whose work all members said was exemplary.

Cllr John Cassin said: "It's not a position we can leave vacant and they'd need to be hitting the ground running."

He added that the role requires the person to deal with several tenancy issues on a daily basis.

Director of Services, Michael Brennan, said the recruitment process for the Tenant Liaison Officer would begin in the next two weeks.
