Gardaí arrest drunk learner driver in Carlow

Gardaí in Carlow have arrested a drunk learner driver on the N80.

The arrest was made on Tuesday afternoon, January 29, when a Carlow Roads Policing Unit stopped an erratic driver on the N80 Carlow ring road.

Gardaí soon discovered the driver was an unaccompanied learner driver and that he was intoxicated.

A breath test at the roadside showed he was four times over the legal limit. He was arrested and his car was seized.

Gardaí later charged him to Carlow District Court.

They are reminding drivers to never ever drink and drive and also reminded road users that conditions are currently treacherous as the country remains under a status yellow snow and ice warning from Met Éireann.
