Carlow Gardaí have acted fast to apprehend an individual responsible for vandalism in the town in the early hours of Thursday morning, January 30.

Dismay had been expressed after the damage to planter boxes and trees on Tullow Street was discovered by public representatives and businesspeople.

Gardaí have confirmed to Carlow Live that a culprit was identified on CCTV footage examined by officers in the hours following the discovery.

The man was later arrested and made full admissions to the damage caused.

He is now due to make a court appearance in relation to the offence.

Cllr Jim Deane has welcomed the development.
