Volunteers are needed for "stewarding roles" during Carlow's two-day St Patrick's Festival on March 16 and 17.

Plans for the Carlow showpiece are now in train with with the theme of "Diversity".

For more information on volunteering over the two days you contact the Carlow Volunteer Centre on

Organisers of the festival said: "Thank you to the Volunteer Centre for helping out again this year. The volunteers were fantastic last year, stewarding during the Parade and Family Fun Day. We look forward to working with you again."

They added: "Last year a group of volunteers got together to form a committee to help organise the St Patrick's Day Parade. Up to then all the work was done by one individual.

"It was decided to add a little bit more and we went with the Family Fun Day. This year it's a two-day festival. There has been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes since last year and we hope that next year more volunteers will join us.

"If you are interested in helping out in March or want to get involved in 2020 please feel free to contact us."
