A drugs bust in Carlow has led to €25,000 worth of cannabis being seized and the discovery of a cultivation system. 

The planned search under warrant took place in Leighlinbridge on January 29. 

It was carried out by the Garda Divisional Drugs Unit, local detectives, uniformed Gardaí and the Garda Dog Unit. 

At 10.50am Gardaí entered the premises and discovered a large quantity of cannabis herb to the value of €25,000 and also discovered a cultivation system in operation in one of the bedrooms. 

One man was detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act and was detained for a number of hours but was later released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
