Organisers reveal band playing at Haymarket for Carlow St Patrick's Day Festival

It has been revealed that the band playing at Haymarket for the Carlow St Patrick's Day Festival are a group that have played for everyone from the Royal Family to Michael D Higgins. 

Organisers said: "We are delighted to let you all know that the fantastic Celtic Storm will join us in Haymarket on St Patrick's Day.

Celtic Storm is a globally acclaimed stage production of Irish Traditional Music, Song and Dance, which has been performed to audiences all over the world.

It is performed by a group of extremely talented Irish musicians and dancers from Ards CCÉ in County Down and includes All Ireland Champion musicians, vocalists and Irish dancers. 

Over recent years the group has performed at many major music festivals throughout Ireland, UK, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy and USA.

They have also played alongside many famous Irish bands, including The Priests (world famous trio ensemble), Sir Van Morrison, Beoga, Lunasa, Dervish, Sharon Shannon, 4 Men and a Dog and Frankie Gavin.

In recent years they have released 5 CDs, appeared numerous times on Irish TV and been described by Irish media as “The Best of Irish Culture”. 

The group’s Irish Dancers are also champions in their field and they hail from a family steeped in traditional Irish dance.

Their sister Lauren Smyth has been lead dancer in Riverdance and their brother, also a champion Irish dancer, is a lead dancer with Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance. 

Furthermore the group have personally performed for Irish President Michael D Higgins at his official residence in Dublin and the Royal Family, HRH Prince Charles and HRH Duchess of Cornwall, at their private residence in Hillsborough Castle.

Late August 2018 saw the group travelling to Dublin to perform at the Papal Celebrations of Pope Francis.
