Gardaí have issued an appeal after a man claiming to sell saucepans attempted to enter a house in Bagenalstown on Wednesday morning.

The culprit was there on the pretext of selling saucepans and made a decent effort to get the homeowner to open the door but he refused.

Gardaí believe it's closely linked to the incident in Powerstown, but there was one person at the door this morning (Wednesday), with two individuals gaining entry during the incident on Saturday.

This morning's incident has seen the culprit described as a well-dressed male and Gardaí are seeking the assistance of anyone who may have seen a cream coloured Toyota car in the area on Wednesday.

Bagenalstown Gardaí are investigating and can be contacted on 059 972 1212.
