'Proliferation of Information Communications Technology malware, viruses and ransomware'
A "significant amount" of Carlow County Council time and resources is being spent on protecting its IT network from threats, local authority chief executive, Kathleen Holohan, has said.
In her monthly report to members, Ms Holohan reassured local representatives that IT Security is always to the fore and a "significant amount of time and resources is spent on ensuring that out network is protected from threats".
She added: "This is even more relevant given the proliferation of Information Communications Technology malware, viruses and ransomware.
"To this end the ICT Department spends considerable time and effort implementing, upgrading, monitoring and managing the range of security measures in place."
