Carlow councillor pays touching tribute to his 'much-loved' mother after she is laid to rest

Councillor Walter Lacey paid a touching tribute to his mother after she was laid to rest on Monday and he has described her as "a much-loved mother and friend to all that crossed her path".

Mary Lacey died peacefully in the tender care of the Sacred Heart Hospital.

Beloved wife of Luke and much loved mother of Walter, Martin, Brenda, Luke, Margaret, Carole and Julie.

Sadly missed by her loving husband, sons, daughters, brothers, Tom and Dermot, sisters Joan and Catherine, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law her 22 grandchildren, great-granddaughter, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

In a post on Facebook, her son, Cllr Lacey, said: "We bid farewell to an amazing woman, devoted wife, much-loved mother and a friend to all that crossed her path. 

"Our appreciation to all of you that expressed your sympathies, the hundreds of people that attended the funeral home, those that attended the funeral Mass in St Clares Church, those that attended the burial, the cards and letters, the phone calls, texts, emails, messenger, the comments and acknowledgements here on FB. 

"Your support is greatly appreciated by the family."
