Carlow County Council will install a speed detection device on the Browneshill Road Lower over residents' concerns.

Cllr Fintan Phelan brought the issue up at this month's meeting of Carlow Municipal District when he said residents in the area were concerned about the speed of cars on the avenue down towards the bend as you head towards Askea Church.

He added that traffic calming measures are "urgently needed".

Area engineer, Pat Harrington, said he would arrange to get a device fitted in the next few weeks to measure speed and car numbers.

"When we have that info we'll fill you in but you're looking at the April meeting before the results will be back," he added.
