Gusts reached a maximum of 93km/h at Oak Park in Carlow as of 6am on Wednesday after Storm Gareth passed through.
According to www.carlowweather.com, winds will slowly start to ease on Wednesday morning with a mix of bright spells and showers before another wet and windy night ahead.
A Status Yellow wind warning for Munster, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Roscommon is in place until noon on Wednesday.
Alan O'Reilly added: "A chilly Saint Patrick’s Day is also looking likely."
