Councillor worried over threat to ditches from spraying of Roundup after wall collapse

'Stones crumble because of all the spraying...'
A councillor has expressed his worry over a threat to ditches from the spraying of Roundup after a wall collapsed in Carlow recently.
Cllr Willie Quinn brought up an issue at a Bagenalstown Municipal District meeting this month about a wall and some soil that had collapsed on a road near Borris which was posing a danger to road users.
He added: "A chap nearly turned over a car a few weeks ago."
Cllr John Murphy said "stones crumble because of all the spraying and the Roundup (a popular pesticide)".
He warned: "Ditches crumble then because there is no vegetation to beef them up."
