"This was 30 people, gathering 100s of bags of rubbish," said a councillor after a recent community clean-up as he hit out at fly-tipping in Carlow.
Cllr Brian O'Donoghue was responding after the Clonmore community clean-up took place over the weekend.
He said: "Well done to the huge crowd of local volunteers who travelled the highways and byways on Saturday morning in Clonmore, Vermount, Tombeagh, Ballykillane, Raheen, Coolmanagh, Constable hill, Ballasalla, Monastill and all areas!
"Organised by volunteers, run by volunteers and made successful by volunteers! And they are still going!
"Very happy to have assisted with providing equipment, bags and the collection of the rubbish with the legend that is Brendan Dowling, who constantly goes beyond the call of duty, big thanks to local area engineer Pat Harrington also."
He added: "This was not just a few bags. This was 30 people, gathering 100s of bags of dumped household rubbish, electronics, NAPPIES!, and all sorts.
"I was over to help these great volunteers for a short while, but the work they have done is absolutely brilliant!
"This work should NOT be needed. But horrible, disgusting, lazy, and downright dreadful people treat the beautiful country side as a dumping ground."
