ESB issues explanation after power outages in hugely populated area of Carlow

Both outages were caused by trees coming into contact with overhead lines

Power outages affected areas of Carlow Town

ESB Networks have confirmed that there have been two outages in the Pollerton area in recent weeks.

They occurred on Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, March 21.

In a statement, they said: "Up to 1,000 customers were impacted during each outage for a short period of time with ESB Networks crews mobilised quickly to restore power.

"Both outages were caused by trees coming into contact with overhead lines. ESB Networks are currently patrolling the area and clearing trees to help prevent such incidents. ESB Networks would like to apologies to all impacted customers."
