Carlow County Fire and Rescue Services assisted a motorboat and its crew which had gone over the weir in Bagenalstown on Tuesday evening.
A fire crew from Bagenalstown and the water rescue crew from Carlow Town fire station responded to the call.
The crews managed to recover the boat and its occupants safely off the weir.
Carlow's Chief Fire Officer, Alan O'Neill, has warned of the dangers of taking to the waters this time of year due to low temperatures and cold water shock.
He warned people to never consume alcohol before going to the water, it not only endangers your life but also the lives of crews within the emergency services who are called upon to assist with rescues.
