A fundraiser for Focus Ireland - Great School Sleep Out

A Carlow primary school is to become one of the first in country where students take part in a sleep out.

Students of Tynock National School will be participating in a fundraiser as part of the Focus Ireland - Great School Sleep Out in solidarity with the homeless.

Teacher, Sharon Shelly, says her 4th, 5th and 6th Class students will be taking part.

She said: "My class are going to be sleeping outside our school in shifts on Friday, May 17 in sleeping bags from 7pm to 7am the following morning, and will be raising money for Focus Ireland through sponsorship.

"I believe we are one of the first Primary Schools in Ireland to complete the Sleep Out! Many Secondary Schools have competed it but no primary level.

"My class are very excited."
