An RPZ is where rent increases are capped at 4% per annum over a three year period
Calls have been made for Carlow to be included in the Rent Pressure Zones as people are struggling to rent in the county.
Cllr John Cassin brought the matter up at this month's meeting of Carlow Municipal District and asked about contacting the Department of Housing to ensure that Carlow is added to the list of areas.
An RPZ is where rent increases are capped at 4% per annum over a three year period.
Areas classified already as an RPZ include parts of Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath.
"People are not able to find properties to rent," said Cllr Cassin.
As of May 3 on Daft.ie there were 22 properties available to rent across the county.
