The 'Big Hello' event in Myshall Community Centre on May 5 was "a great success in every way with an amazing €1,500 donated for Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare so far".

Myshall News said: "Thanks to all who attended, to Thomas for the music, to the committee for the fantastic treats, to Carlow County Council for its support under Minister Michael Ring's initiative and to anyone who helped in any way."

The Big Hello - Ireland’s National Community Weekend - was launched by the Minister for Rural and Community Development on March 6 this year.

It is a weekend of community celebration and its aim is to encourage people to get to know their neighbours, by hosting or attending a Big Hello! event in their local area.
