A Carlow Town Local Election candidate is running with "no posters, no photo on the ballot paper, no canvass and no publicity" and it only cost him €100.
Bernard Jennings of Pembroke House, Pembroke, Carlow is an optician and is non-party. He is running in the Carlow Town area and also says he will not be commenting on the issues of the day during the Local Election campaign.
He says "in the unlikely event" that he is elected, he promises in his maiden speech to sing "Follow me up to Carlow" in a Wicklow accent.
Mr Jennings also said he would "do my best, guided by the principles of common sense and motivated by the interests of Carlow Town and county".
