Works commenced on site yesterday (Tuesday) for the new car park at Bennekerry.

This will provide around 30 additional car park spaces and is much needed for both the local school and church.

Cllr Fergal Browne has worked on this issue for nearly two years and is delighted that works have finally started.

"As the local councillor for the area and a parent of children who attend Bennekerry National School, I am delighted to have been involved in delivering on this project."

Cllr Browne also complimented the landowner involved, Les Purcell, and Ray Wickham of Carlow County Council for their assistance.

"Fencing and barriers will be erected shortly and the car park should be operational during June," he added.
