Carlow homeless figures revealed as national figures continue to rise for adults and children

Homeless figures continue to rise as families seek emergency accommodation

Record homeless figures have been posted again this month, with over 11,000 adults and children seeking emergency accommodation. 

Figures show that 35 people were classes as homeless and seeking emergency accommodation in Carlow alone. 

The number of adult people classed as homeless in Ireland was close to 8,000 at the end of October, latest figures show. 

Figures released by the Department of Housing show thousands of men and women continue to seek emergency accommodation. 

There was a total of 7,917 adults classed as homeless during the week of 24-30 October 2022.

Of these, 4974 were male and a further 2,943 were female.

There were 1,601 families seeking emergency accommodation at the end of October. A total of 3,480 children were among these families seeking emergency accommodation. 

The "numbers in homelessness" are now at "unacceptable levels" according to Depaul Ireland, the homeless charity.
