Christmas Eve (Saturday December 24) will bring some sunny spells with showers in the west during the morning.
These will become more widespread in the afternoon and some will be heavy with the chance of isolated thunderstorms and hail, especially in the west.
That's according to Met Éireann, which also forecasts temperatures of between 6 and 10 degrees and breezy, blustery winds.
A mix of clear spells and scattered showers is expected at night, some of which will be heavy and prolonged, especially near Atlantic coasts.
Lowest temperatures will be between 4 and 7 degrees in a moderate to fresh southerly breeze, stronger near the west coast.
