ELECTION UPDATE: All the results from Carlow Election night 1. Where will the final seats go!

After a full day of counting here in Carlow, there are still plenty of seats to be filled!

ELECTION UPDATE: Everything that happen on Election night 1. Where will the final seats go!

All the elected candidates from day 1 of counting

After an action packed day at day one of the Carlow Local Elections 2024 with 9 of the available 18 seats being filled.

Bagenalstown

The first elected candidate came in the first count of the Bagenalstown Local Electoral Area (LEA) and that was Fine Gael's Thomas Kinsella. 

After the first count of the Bagenalstown LEA the voting looked like this:

Thomas Kinsella - FG - 1,732 - Surplus 549

Willie Quinn LAB - 1,090 - to reach quota 93

Andy Gladney - SF - 1,018 - to reach quota 165

Daniel Pender - FF - 986 - to reach quota 197

Michael Doran - FG - 943 - to reach quota 240

Arthur McDonald - FF - 819 - to reach quota 364

Liam O'Brien - GRN - 295 - to reach quota 888

Áine Gladney - SF - 210 - to reach quota 973

In the second count of the Bagenalstown LEA, Labour's Willie Quinn filled the second the second seat.

After Muinbheag's second count the voting looked like this:

Thomas Kinsella - FG - Elected

Willie Quinn LAB - Elected

Michael Doran - FG - 1,083 - to reach quota 100

Daniel Pender - FF - 1,070 - to reach quota 113

Andy Gladney - SF - 1,054 - to reach quota 129

Arthur McDonald - FF - 875 - to reach quota 308

Liam O'Brien - GRN - 315 - to reach quota 868

Áine Gladney - SF - 218 - to reach quota 965

The final three to be elected in Muinbheag came in the forth and final count.

Firstly, Sinn Féin's Andy Gladney was elected, followed by first time runner Daniel Pender, and finally retaining his seat on the council was Michal Doran.

Tullow LEA

In the Tullow Local Electoral Area we only got one count done in the first night of the Carlow elections.

The two candidates who were elected in the first count and retaining their seats on the council was John Pender of Fianna Fáil, and Charlie Murphy running as an Independent.

The candidates are battling it out for the final 3 seats in Tullow.

Here is how the voting looked after the Tullow LEA first count:

John Pender - FF - 1,335 - Elected

Charlie Murphy - Non-P - 1,286 - Elected

Will Paton - Non-P -1,017 - to reach quota 97

Ben Ward -FG- 704 - to reach quota 410

Brian O'Donoghue - FG - 631 - to reach quota 483

Catherine Callaghan - FG - 614 - to reach quota 500

Jim Deane - SF - 419 - to reach quota 695

John McDonald - FF - 362 - to reach quota 752

Billy Nolan - Non-P - 323 - to reach quota 791

Annette McDonell - Non-P - 254 - to reach quota 860

Ken Gahan - SF - 218 - to reach quota 896

Patricia Fennelly Nolan - Non-P- 185 - to reach quota 929

John Cahill - PBP - 178 - to reach quota 936

Daeln Murphy - TNP - 146 - to reach quota 968

Phil Thompson - SF - 125 - to reach quota 989

Carlow LEA

Carlow LEA only had one count completed on day one of the count.

Fianna Fáil duo Fintan Phelan and Andrea Dalton cruised into being elected on the first count in Carlow LEA.

The results following the first count in Carlow are:

Ruairí Doyle - SF - 156

Daeln Murphy - TNP - 157
