Carlow County Council is currently recruiting for the role of retained firefighter (permanent part time).
According to the job listing posted online - which comes following weeks of strike action by retained firefighters nationally - the role covers Hacketstown, Bagenalstown and Tullow Fire Stations.
Retained firefighters are voluntary positions by people living within a five minute mobilisation/response time of the fire station of his/her service.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 50 years and hold a current clean Class B driving licence.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain a full class C licence within the probationary period of twelve months.
The appropriate retaining fee and the hourly rate for attendance at fires and drill sessions will be paid according to the Approved National scale.
An attendance at 85% of all drills and training sessions on a quarterly basis is necessary to qualify for a retaining fee.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday June 30.
