More than €2 million in funding has been allocated for works on national roads and greenways in Carlow in 2024.
Details of the funding, to be distributed by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, have been announced by the Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan and Minister of State Jack Chambers.
Carlow County Council is to receive a total allocation of €2,180,628 for works to be carried out on national roads, greenways and Active Travel Schemes across the county over the next year.
The majority of the money (€1.88m) has been earmarked for capital investment, including protection and renewal and Active Travel projects.
The largest project to receive funding (€1m) is the N81 Ballyoliver to Rathvilly Pavement Scheme while €680,000 has been allocated for works on the N81 between Bough and the county boundary with Wicklow.
A total of €75,000 has been allocated for works on the Barrow Valley Greenway, which will stretch from Bagenalstown to Palace East in Wexford.
