According to the Sunday Independent, the four-time Oscar-nominated actress, who is originally from County Carlow, tied the knot with Scottish actor Jack Lowden last weekend.

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has reportedly married her long-term partner in a secret ceremony in Scotland.

According to the Sunday Independent, the four-time Oscar-nominated actress, who grew up in County Carlow, tied the knot with Scottish actor Jack Lowden last weekend.

It's reported that only a handful of the couple’s closest friends were present at the low-key ceremony which took place at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office at City Chambers.

The couple, who have kept their relationship largely private, co-starred in Mary Queen of Scots in 2018 and they are both producers on Saoirse Ronan's new film, The Outrun, which opens in cinemas in September.

The 30-year-old, who won a Golden Globe award for her role in Lady Bird in 2018,  shares a €2.8m home with her now husband in Islington, North London.

The rumours first emerged after he posted a photograph on social media which appeared to show the actress wearing a diamond engagement ring.
