Wind warning in place for Carlow as strong gusts expected
Met Éireann has issued a Yellow Wind Warning for Carlow and four other counties.
Unseasonably strong and gusty south to southwest winds veering west to northwest are expected.

The warning will be in place from midnight tonight until 6am Friday morning.
Today's weather will see any remaining rain and drizzle in the east of the province to clear this morning and it will be mostly dry for a time with some sunshine.
Becoming mostly cloudy later though, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading from the southwest this evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees in mostly moderate west to southwest winds.
Widespread rain for a time early tonight with some heavy falls will lead to spot flooding in places. It'll turn very windy for a time in the south of the province overnight with strong to gale force and gusty southerly winds developing, gradually veering west to northwest and decreasing fresh to strong.
Winds will be lighter further north. The rain will clear northeastwards from most parts overnight. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees
