Tributes have flooded in following the death of William, or Willie as he was known, Corrigan of 20 Mountain View in Hacketstown

Willie passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Sonas Nursing Home on Saturday, 15 March.

According to his RIP.ie notice, Willie will be "sadly missed by Jane and his brothers Derek, Desmond and Jimmy and his special carers Kitty, Denise and family, neighbours, relatives and friends."

From the many kind messages left online since his passing, it is evident that Willie was a well loved man in Hacketstown and beyond.

Many have taken to share their fondest memories of the community man online as well as to express their deepest sympathies with his family. Willie has continuously been described as a "kind hearted gentleman" throughout these tributes.

Annacurra Bowls Club wrote about Willie to say: "He was a fantastic character, loved the Bowls, and was a great conversationalist, who loved to talk above events, past and present. We extend our sincere sympathy to all his family and friends. Rest in peace Willie."

Another person shared: "He was a very interesting man, with great stories from his travels."

Someone else wrote: "He always had a story to tell and was so interested in the different parts of Ireland he visited and loved hearing about the news from my family."

The Hacketstown man will be greatly missed by all in the community.

Willie's funeral will arrive at St John the Baptist Church in Hacketstown on Wednesday for 2pm followed by burial in Hacketstown Cemetery.
