Carlow County Council has received a planning application for extensive renovation and extension works to Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach in Askea.

Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board submitted the application this week which proposes the construction of a three-storey extension to the north of the existing school building which will consist of a two-classroom special education unit with ancillary accommodation, classrooms and staffroom.

In addition to this, the proposal seeks to demolish three prefabricated buildings and a shed as well make internal alterations to the existing building in order to create a connection to the proposed extension at ground and first floor level.
