There has been an outpouring of community support for a Carlow family who sadly lost their home in a devasting fire on Thursday, 21 August.
Mike and Eileen Gough from Ballyhide in Killeshin lost almost all of their belongings in the fire, and of course, the place they called home. Thankfully, though, no one was hurt in the fire.
In an effort to support the Gough family, a GoFundMe has been created by Richard Murray to help them rebuild their lives after this terrible tragedy.
Already, the fundraiser has managed to raise well over €16,000 for the Goughs.

The GoFundMe reads: "On August 21st 2025, our dear friends Mike, Eileen and their family tragically lost their home to a devastating fire. Thankfully, everyone is safe, but they are now facing the overwhelming task of rebuilding not just their home, but their lives. This is a heart-wrenching time for them, as they’ve lost all their belongings and the place they once called home.
"We’re asking for your support to help them through this incredibly difficult time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward rebuilding their home, replacing essential belongings, and helping them get back on their feet. Please consider donating and sharing this page with others. Your kindness, love, and support will mean the world to them as they begin to rebuild their lives from the ground up.
"Thank you for helping bring hope during this difficult time."
As the donations have poured in since the fundraiser was created, the GoFundMe organiser Richard Murray has continuously provided updates from the family on how the clean-up operation is coming along as well thanking everyone for their generosity and support.
