Carlow County Council has received a planning application from Caredoc Healthcare Ltd. for an expansion of its facilities on the O'Brien Road in Carlow.

The application, submitted by O’Driscoll Lynn Architects on behalf of Caredoc, is seeking permission to change the use of offices on the site to a health centre as well as for proposed alterations and an extension to an existing building.

Additionally, the application includes proposed signage to building elevations, free-standing totem signage, and all other associated site works.

Caredoc has expanded its services since it first came to Carlow in 1999 and this new proposal intends to continue that expansion.

As it stands, Caredoc provides GP Out of Hours services, remote triage services, community-based nursing services and chronic disease management.

Caredoc hopes to provide additional services at the O'Brien Road premises, including facilitating additional administration, human resources, call assessment centre spaces and information technology.

According to the application, it is envisaged that there will be services operating during daytime office hours and out of hours. The daytime hours will range from 9am to 5.30pm, while the out of hours times will be between 6pm and 2am.

Carlow County Council are due to make their decision by 27 October 2025.
