A major update has been announced marking the beginning of an "exciting chapter" for a primary school in Co. Carlow.
A contractor has been appointed for the Safe Routes to School scheme at the Queen of the Universe National School in Baganelstown.
The scheme will result in enhanced safety and accessibility to the school for students and parents.
"Get ready to witness a vibrant transformation as the new School Zone, complete with engineered traffic calming measures and improved pedestrian infrastructure, is rolled out," the Carlow County Council Active Travel newsletter read.
The project has been designed to encourage active travel while creating a safer and more welcoming approach to the school.
It's hoped that once it is complete, a "new life and confidence" will be emanating from the school.

Works will be conducted to ensure that the area is clearly visible as a "school zone."
This will include coloured pencil bollards being put in place along with colourful markings on the road encouraging drivers to slow down.
A new pedestrian crossing will be provided on the Royal Oak Road.
It has also been proposed that a one-way system be implemented on the road, heading southbound only.
