A routine garda checkpoint in County Carlow, turned into a successful operation, after a driver who 'turned' and attempted to drive away was found to be uninsured.
Officers attached to Unit A at Carlow garda station, set up the checkpoint at Wexford Road in the town on Monday in order to ensure that drivers, and their vehicles were in compliance with road traffic regulations.
Highlighting the detection on social media a spokesperson stated that they noticed one car turning and attempting to drive away from the checkpoint.
This suspicious action led to the gardaí pursuing the black Ford Focus so that a closer inspection could be conducted.

It was subsequently established that the driver was not insured and as a result, the car was seized and the driver is now set for a court appearance.
If convicted of driving without insurance, the driver faces a potential fine and a disqualification while penalty points will also be applied to their licence.
An Garda Síochána Carlow took to their Facebook page to congratulate the officers on their vigilance, stating that it was a, "Super result from Unit A."
