In a public notice, the local authority has confirmed that from this Monday, November 25, the cemetery will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 8pm to 8am each day.
The notice adds that the cemetery, at Dublin Road in Carlow Town, will remain open and pedestrian access will continue to be maintained at all times.

While the reasons for the change have not been disclosed publicly, it's understood they are in response to recent incidents of antisocial behaviour.
A number of people have taken to social media calling for the council to deploy additional security rather than restricting vehicular access.
"What about those that want to visit loved ones' graves after 8pm who require the use of a car to get close to their graves … this is disgraceful," wrote one person on Facebook while another wrote: "It is sad that this has to happen at all".
