PRESIDENT Michael D. Higgins of Ireland has conveyed his well wishes to the Ireland U20s Squad in a letter, ahead of their World Rugby U20 Championship Final against France in Cape Town this Friday.

In the letter addressed to the team, President Higgins commended the "talent, resilience, and teamwork" displayed by Richie Murphy's squad as they gear up for their highly anticipated encounter with France at Athlone Stadium.

President Higgins wrote, "Your journey to the final, not only in this tournament but also by clinching the Six Nations Championship earlier this year, is a truly remarkable accomplishment. It serves as a testament to the remarkable talent, resilience, and teamwork within Irish rugby."

He continued, "The unwavering dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment you have displayed have brought immense joy to all those who hold Irish rugby dear. Your team's outstanding performances in South Africa this summer serve as undeniable proof that you have rightfully earned your place in this year's final."

"On behalf of the Irish people, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all the players, staff, and everyone who has supported you along the way as you prepare to face France."

Following their remarkable Grand Slam victory in March, led by the exceptional captain Gus McCarthy, Ireland is now aiming to etch their names in the history books in Cape Town. Their path to the final has been paved with victories over Australia, Fiji, and South Africa.

Kick-off for the game is 6pm Irish time, and fans can find coverage live on Virgin Media Two and on World Rugby Platforms.
