TRAIN services have now resumed, following an early fatality on a busy Iarnród Éireann route.

The latest report from Iarnród Éireann says that services have now continued between Thurles and Portlaoise, following a fatal incident earlier this morning. This route would have affected the Limerick to Dublin Heuston line earlier this morning.

Irish Rail reported that the 06:40am train from Limerick to Dublin Heuston was paused this Saturday, July 15, following a tragedy on the track.

The line between Thurles and Templemore is where the incident occurred.

This incident is the third in recent weeks, with a reported fatality on Sunday, July 9 last on the same route.

Dart services were also disrupted in recent days following another fatal incident on the line.
