High-end home theatre audio systems from a leading brand are being recalled due to a major safety issue.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), Bose Products B.V is carrying out a recall to repair on Acoustimass®, Lifestyle® and Companion™ home theatre audio systems.
The risk reported to the CCPC is that of fire. A thermal event can occur inside of the unit leading to the bass module catching fire.
There are approximately 1064 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
The brand is Bose and the affected models are: ACOUSTIMASS® 5 SERIES IV POWERED SPEAKER SYSTEM, ACOUSTIMASS® 6 III HOME ENT. SYSTEM, ACOUSTIMASS® 10 III HOME ENT. SYSTEM, ACOUSTIMASS® 15 HOME THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM, ACOUSTIMASS® 15 II HOME ENT. SYSTEM, ACOUSTIMASS® 16 HOME ENT. The barcodes and batch numbers are unknown. Most SKU numbers are affected. However, to determine if your bass module is impacted, follow the steps provided in the Bose recall page.
Consumers are asked to unplug and cease using the affected products and return them to Bose or an authorized service centre in exchange for a free repair or a 40% discount on a replacement product or, if repair is not available in your location, a free replacement product.
