A learner driver has been arrested after being stopped by Gardai in Cork city while under the influence of drugs.
The unaccompanied learner driver was initially stopped by Gardai for driving on the wrong side of the road with no lights on.
Upon closer inspection, the driver was found to be a learner driving unaccompanied with no insurance or NCT. The driver also tested positive for the consumption of benzodiazepines.
The driver was arrested with proceedings to follow.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Earlier this morning, Cork City Gardaí stopped this car for driving on the wrong side of the road with no lights on.
"The driver was found to be a learner driving unaccompanied with no insurance or NCT, and also tested positive for consumption of benzos. The driver was arrested."
