The warning comes ahead of Cyber Awareness Month in October, in which a number of campaigns supported by the Government are due to take place to highlight current trends in cyber fraud and phishing scams.
The Department is urging people to be "extremely cautious" and to avoid engaging with scams - including fake emails, calls or texts - by offering any personal information.
