APPEAL: Gardaí urge people to stop sharing images of victim of road collision

Gardaí are urging people to stop sharing pictures of a victim of a recent road collision.

According to Gardaí, the collision occurred on Saturday October 28 on the M50 northbound in Tallaght, Dublin at approximately 3.15pm.

A statement posted on the official Garda X account urged people to stop circulating images of the person involved "out of respect for the victim".

Additionally, the Garda Ombudsman (GSOC) has received a referral regarding the collision from a Garda Superintendent under section 102(1) of the Garda Síochána Act 2005.

This section of the Act provides for "any matter that appears... to indicate that the conduct of a member of the Garda Síochána may have resulted in the death of, or serious harm to, a person".

GSOC would like to speak to any witnesses who observed any incident, activity or interactions at the time and place of the collision.

They would also welcome the provision of any CCTV, dashcam or mobile footage witnesses may have captured.

Anyone with information which may be of assistance is asked to contact GSOC at 0818 600 800 or info@gsoc.ie.
