PICTURES: Joyful scenes as Irish troops reunite with families following Lebanon deployment

There were joyful scenes at Dublin Airport this Saturday morning as hundreds of Irish troops were flown home from a deployment in Lebanon in time for Christmas.

Over 200 Irish troops from the 122nd Infantry Battalion, United Nations Interim Force Lebanon (UNIFIL) were met by their families and friends on their return to Ireland following a six-month deployment to South Lebanon. 

Drawn from many different units around the country across the Army and Air Corps, the Defence Forces welcomed home the 122nd Infantry Battalion on X (formerly Twitter): "After a 6 month tour of duty in Lebanon our personnel are safely back on Irish soil! Enjoy your time off and have a great Christmas!"
