Car sale meet-up leads to theft incident

No arrests have been made by gardaí yet in relation to the incident.

The theft of a car which was stolen during a test-drive is being investigated by Kildare gardaí.

Speaking on the matter with Kildare FM Radio Station earlier today was Garda Aidan McGuane.

Gda McGuane told host Eoin Beatty that a person in Athy had been looking to sell their red Audi A4 estate vehicle on the Facebook Marketplace.

The interested party met with the seller and agreed to take the car for a test drive.

However, the driver never returned the car to the seller.

According to Gda McGuane, the registration of the vehicle is '09D-127-668.'

He added thatthose who may have information related to the incident are being asked to contact Athy Garda Station on 059-863-4210.

Separately, a garda spokesperson also confirmed that the incident occurred to the Leinster Leader: "Gardaí are investigating the theft of a car that occurred on the January 20, 2024 at a house on in Athy, County Kildare on January 20, 2024 at approximately 6pm.

"No arrests have been made."

The spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing."
