A ten-year-old boy remains in a serious condition following a road traffic incident in Shannon, county Clare over the weekend.
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, February 25, in Purcell Park in the Clare town.
The child received medical treatment at the scene before being airlifted to University Hospital Limerick by the HSE’s Cork-based Emergency Aeromedical Service air ambulance.
It is understood that the child has since been transferred to Children's Health Ireland at Temple Street, where he remains in a serious condition.
"The boy who was involved in this collision continues to receive medical treatment for serious injuries," a garda spokesperson confirmed this Monday morning.
The road at Purcell Park was closed until this Monday afternoon to allow a garda technical examination to be carried out at the scene, and has since reopened.
