The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place.

The road has been closed for examination by forensic collision investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward or anyone with footage to make it available.
The N17 is the same stretch of road on which a mother and her two daughters were killed in a crash earlier this week.
