ESB crews are working to repair the outages

ESB Networks have said that around 12,000 customers remain without power on Saturday evening due to damage caused by strong winds from Storm Kathleen, with some flights and ferries cancelled.

A spokesperson said that the bulk of the remaining outages are in counties Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Laois and Wicklow.

"ESB Networks crews are mobilised in impacted areas and responding to power outages where safe to do so," the spokesperson said.

"ESB Networks is continuing to monitor the situation as Storm Kathleen tracks across the country and weather warnings remain in place. With high winds forecasted into the afternoon, further outages can be expected in impacted areas," the spokesperson added.

Significant delays were caused to train services around the country throughout Saturday due to fallen trees at train lines.

The latest of these was on the line between Clonsilla and M3 Parkway on Saturday afternoon, which reopened after 4pm.

Met Éireann also issued fresh Status Yellow wind warnings for five counties to carry over into Sunday.

A warning for Donegal, Mayo and west Galway will be in place from 8pm tonight until 4pm tomorrow. The other warning will be in place for Waterford and Wexford for three hours from 4am tomorrow until 7am.
