Elderly man rushed to hospital following house fire in Limerick

An elderly man was rushed to University Hospital Limerick this Tuesday following a house fire in Adare.

Limerick Fire and Rescue Service received the report at 9.50am with appliances from Newcastle West and Rathkeale responding.

One man, aged in his mid-sixties, was taken to hospital by ambulance. The extent of his injuries are not known but it is understood that they are not life threatening.

The blaze was quenched by firefighters who remained at the scene for almost two hours.

It is not known how the fire in the home started.
