The legendary Bruce Springsteen kicked off his Kilkenny gig with a touching tribute to the late Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan at his Kilkenny gig on Sunday evening.
As the sun glared across Nowlan Park, Kilkenny shortly after 7pm, The Boss treated fans to a heartfelt rendition of The Pogues' 1986 classic A Rainy Night in Soho in tribute to the Irish music icon MacGowan.
Springsteen returned to Kilkenny for the first time since 2013 and was visibly emotional as he delivered the stunning rendition to the large crowd. When MacGowan passed in November, Springsteen and the E Street Band shared a statement of admiration for the Irish star saying: "Shane was one of my all-time favorite writers."
