Gardaí are seeking witnesses to 'any unusual activity' at a vacant property in Dublin which was set on fire last night (May 21).
According to An Garda Síochána, officers are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire at a property in Tallaght, Dublin 24.
It comes following months of arson attacks at vacant properties around Ireland.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire at the unnamed property on High Street at approximately 11.10pm and attended the scene.
Local fire services brought the fire under control a short time later, and there were no injuries reported.
A technical examination of the scene has since been conducted.
According to RTÉ, the fire may have been started by a suspected pipe bomb.
Reports circulating online - which remain unconfirmed by Gardaí at time of writing - suggest the affected property was being considered to house International Protection Applicants (IPAs).
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to the incident to contact them, particularly anyone in the vicinity of High Street between 10.30pm and 11.30pm and who observed any unusual activity.
Road users or pedestrians who were travelling in the area during this time and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make this available to Gardaí.
Tallaght Garda Station can be contacted on 01 666 6000, or you can contact the Garda Confidential Line by ringing 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
Enquiries are ongoing.
