The car park at SuperValu in Westport has been sealed off since early afternoon after the fatal collision.
An elderly woman has died after she was struck by a truck in the car park of a Westport supermarket earlier today.
The incident happened shortly before 12 noon today. The Gardai and the emergency services rushed to the car park area of the SuperValu supermarket in the town centre but the local woman tragically died at scene.
The car park and the supermarket itself have been closed since early afternoon and it is expected that the a Forensic Collision Investigator Unit will inspect the scene of the fatal collision. The body of the deceased has now been removed from the scene.
The woman is from a well-known family in the Westport area. No other information is available at present.
