Gardaí appeal for information as popular Dublin beach sealed off after 'mass brawl'

Gardaí rushed to seal off a popular Dublin beach on Monday evening following a 'mass brawl' involving a large group of young people.

A number of gardaí responded to reports of disturbances on Burrow Beach in Sutton, Fingal on Monday evening at around 6pm.

Various garda units attended the scene, and crowds were later dispersed from the area.

The beach had been experienced a busy Monday, marking Ireland’s hottest day of the year, with sweltering temperatures soaring to highs of 25C.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Dublin Live, there was reportedly "a huge roar, like a battle on the beach".

"Everyone charged towards it and then ran away from it. We had to call the police because this happens every summer here.

"Probably 20 to 35 officers (including the special unit) came and cleared the beach. The older people who live and families with children could safely walk out. It isn’t safe here otherwise.

"They were here all day. There are throngs of [teens]. They come here on trains and buses. I know an old lady who lives around the corner and she’s afraid to come down here," the witness told Dublin Live.
